Struggling to decide what to book for your upcoming trip to Rome? Trust me your time! I’m Alex, a UK-born historian with an MPhil Research Master’s in Roman History from Oxford University.

I’ve been working in Roman history for nearly 10 years, first as a writer, and now as a Rome tour guide. I’ve studied my Suetonius, come to terms with Cicero, and got to grips with Edward Gibbon – so you don’t have to!

I’m an ETOA-certified guide, part of the guiding team for the Regional Park of the Appia Antica (my favourite hidden gem in Rome!) and an all-round passionate educator in Republican and Imperial history. I love all the juicy details from Romean history: the sex lives of the Caesars; damnatio memoriae (the ‘cancelling’ of disgraced figures).
