Veteran Wordsmith

I have been writing professionally since 2015, covering topics from history and gastronomy to marketing and AI.

My specialist subjects are history, tourism, food and travel. Recent clients in this sector include Slow Food, a global grassroots movement fighting for fair food systems, and Carpe Diem — a pioneer in sustainable tourism with whom I work in the capacity of communications consultant.

I also lead small-group and private tours down the Via Appia Antica and through the Aqueduct Park in Rome, kindling a lifelong passion I was lucky enough to pursue at university. You will find my complete professional curriculum on LinkedIn.

Fluent Communicator

I have taught English since moving to Italy, and my experience encompasses all ages and abilities.

I taught at Florence’s London School for 4 years, with most of my teaching involving 1-1 business English with the directors of the pharmaceutical company Menarini and student exam preparation for IELTS and Cambridge First proficiency examinations. I also taught children and teenagers at local schools in Florence.

In Rome, I was contracted by the University of Tuscia to create and deliver a B2-level English course for students of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning. The hybrid course was structured around 10 weekly seminars, which took place remotely and at the Faculty of Architecture in Rome.

I also work as a translator for IUAV University, Venice, translating academic articles, press releases, and web copy concerning the university’s specialty subjects of fashion and architecture.

Rooted in Research

In 2012 I graduated from the University of Exeter with a Double First Class BA in History and Ancient History.

I was then awarded a full AHRC scholarship to read for an MPhil in Ancient History at St. Hugh’s College, the University of Oxford.

My history background has served me well professionally — from my time as a researcher and writer for Time Travel Rome to my role as communications manager at Walks Inside Rome and as a tour guide for the Regional Park of the Appia Antica

More importantly, my history background has refined my effectiveness as a researcher, equipping me to get to the core of a message without losing sight of the context in which it was written.
